I started teaching Spanish in Renwick in the fall of 2017, at Andale High School and Garden Plain High School.
My teaching experience began as a graduate teaching assistant at Wichita State University, where I taught Spanish 1 and 2 for two years. After obtaining my degree, I ventured into substitute teaching with USD 259 taking jobs anywhere from kindergarten to high school levels. I was mostly requested at Horace Mann Dual Language Magnet School where they offered me a long-term position as a Spanish Social Studies teacher. After a few years of subbing, I decided to go back to school to obtain my teaching license.
I have been married for 3 years now and recently gave birth to a baby girl. My husband and I enjoy traveling abroad and hope to travel together some more in the future.
I’m a child at heart although my body thinks otherwise, and when it likes to cooperate with me I enjoy being outside (preferably without any mosquitos or flies!) playing basketball. I also enjoy traveling and meeting new people and learning about their culture. I’m not the best cook, but when I’m not teaching I like to challenge my cooking skills and attempt to cook items I don’t ordinarily cook during the school year.
